AskHouse REAL ESTATE TWEETING SERVICE LAUNCHED
FOR THE SUNSHINE COAST OF BRITISH COLUMBIA

VICTORIA, BC, CANADA — October 24, 2009 — Today, at the Canadian Real Estate Association's MTC Technology Forum, real estate agent Gary Little announced the immediate availability of a unique internet service, called AskHouse, that enables home buyers on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia to use their mobile phones to quickly obtain basic information about a house for sale by sending a text message — a “tweet” — to the popular Twitter short messaging platform. A reply to the tweet is sent automatically by the AskHouse service, usually within a minute or two of receipt, and includes the price, number of bedrooms, number of bathrooms, house size, lot size, and the address of a webpage containing more detailed information about the house.

The only information required in the text message tweet sent to the service is the service's Twitter user name (AskHouse) and the house's street number. For example, if a prospective buyer notices a property for sale at 1113 Marine Drive in Gibsons, she can get more information about it by sending the following tweet via a mobile phone text message to Twitter at short code 21212 in Canada:

  @AskHouse 1113

A short time later a text message reply comes back:

  1113 MARINE DR $429K 3BD 3BA 2118sf 0.16a http//GaryLittle.ca/f.php?q=1113 Gary 604-741-5347

The house hunter, of course, must have a Twitter account associated with her mobile phone number and must follow the user AskHouse on Twitter. These steps can be performed on the spot by texting from the mobile phone or completed in advance on the Twitter website. Detailed information on how to use Twitter with a mobile phone is provided at www.twitter.com.

"This is a useful service for home buyers who spot an interesting property for sale while driving through a neighbourhood", said Gary Little, an agent with Royal LePage Sunshine Coast in Sechelt, BC. "In just a few seconds they can determine the asking price as well as the size of the house and the lot. It will certainly allow buyers to track down very quickly houses that satisfy their general requirements."

The computer programming for the AskHouse service was done by Gary Little himself. He is a former marketing manager in the computer industry and the winner of two industry awards for excellence in software programming and design.
